Terms of service
These terms govern your use of the cardean.io website and any commercial services Cardean B.V. provides around the open-source Cardean software. They do not replace the open-source Apache-2.0 licence under which the software itself is distributed.
Last updated · 2026-06-091. Parties
"Cardean" or "we" means Cardean B.V., Amsterdam, the Netherlands. "You" means the person or organisation accessing cardean.io or entering into a commercial agreement with us.
2. Open-source software
The Cardean gateway is licensed under Apache-2.0. Your use of the software is governed by that licence — including the disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability set out there.
3. Use of cardean.io
You may browse cardean.io for any lawful purpose. You agree not to (a) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its underlying infrastructure, (b) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the site outside our coordinated disclosure policy, or (c) use automated means to collect content from the site at a rate that would impair its operation.
4. Commercial services
Where Cardean B.V. provides paid services — support subscriptions, pilots, consulting, hosted operations — the specific scope, fees, and SLAs are set out in a separate signed order form. The order form prevails over these terms to the extent of any conflict.
5. Acceptable use
You will not use the software or our services to:
- Violate applicable EU or national law, including the GDPR and the AI Act;
- Bypass authentication, exfiltrate data you are not authorised to access, or generate material that depicts the sexual abuse of minors;
- Operate large-scale automated abuse — credential stuffing, mass spam, disinformation operations, or denial of service against third parties.
6. Intellectual property
"Cardean", the Cardean mark, and the visual identity are trademarks of Cardean B.V. The Apache-2.0 licence does not grant trademark rights; please ask if you would like to reference the brand commercially.
7. Disclaimer & liability
cardean.io and the software are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cardean B.V. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or the software. Commercial agreements may establish a different liability regime.
8. Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence.
