Is Cardean Gateway a model provider?
No. Cardean Gateway sits between your applications and the model endpoints you choose. It provides a consistent control, routing and evidence layer.
Will we need to rewrite our applications?
No. Gateway minimises application change through an OpenAI-compatible interface and familiar SDK patterns. The documentation maintains a tested compatibility list per release.
Does Cardean store prompts and responses?
Logging is configurable. Teams retain operational metadata without automatically retaining full content, and apply different policies by workload.
Does Gateway make an AI system compliant?
No product creates compliance by itself. Gateway supports a governance programme through enforceable policy, traceability, access control and evidence. Legal obligations still depend on the system, role, context and configuration.
Which providers and models are supported?
The documentation publishes a tested compatibility matrix. Join the launch list and tell us which providers, model deployments and endpoints matter to you.
Can Cardean run in our environment?
Cardean runs self-managed or in controlled cloud environments. Contact us with your infrastructure, isolation, region, upgrade and support requirements; we confirm what is available rather than promise an untested fit.
Is Cardean open source?
Cardean publishes selected components, interfaces and implementation work where openness improves trust and portability. The commercial Gateway control plane is not currently fully open source.
Is Gateway available without an annual contract?
Yes. The Open edition provides a self-managed evaluation route with no annual contract. Pro starts with a productised pilot; Cloud follows later on annual contracts where support and assurance are part of the service.
Is model usage included?
You bring your own provider accounts; any provider charges, currency conversion and mark-ups are stated explicitly. Contact us to discuss your expected usage.
When do Analytics and Identity arrive?
Cardean Analytics: early access in 2026. Cardean Identity: early access in 2027. Both share the same control model as Gateway: join Analytics early access or Identity early access.
